Centre urged to honour commitments on CPEC route

NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Saturday urged the federal government to honour the commitments it had made regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
Talking to reporters here, he said the project was of a national interest and would play an important role in the development of the country, especially the backward areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. “The project would bring about an economic revolution in the region,” he added.
He said if the federal government implemented the commitments the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had made with the ANP chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan, in the recent meeting, the project would usher in a new era of development and prosperity in the country.
He urged the government to address the reservations of all the federating units regarding the project to take full advantage of the project.
He urged the Pakistan and Afghanistan authorities to take steps for creating a cordial atmosphere for dialogue, restore mutual trust and remove misunderstandings between the two countries.
He came down hard on Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for what he called his tirade against ANP.
The nationalist leader alleged that Pervez Khattak was changing loyalties for wealth and ministries.
