AIOU allocates Rs15m for scholarships to deserving students

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has allocated Rs15 million as its annual budget to provide scholarships to its deserving students in order to bring maximum number of people in the educational network.
The scholarships will be available under nine different schemes manly to accommodate people from less developed regions and neglected section of society said Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Shahid Siddiqui while addressing regional directors conference.
He hoped that the University s 44 regions will properly utilize the scholarship fund.
The financial assistance will also be provided to the students who are affected by the recent earthquake and floods.
The Regional Directors conference during its two day deliberations held at Abbottabad adopted a comprehensive plan to strengthen their regional campuses so as to improve quality of education and provide best possible services to its 1.3 million students.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while inaugurating the conference announced that the regional offices will be given extra support by meeting their financial technical and human resource requirements enabling them to meet their target of maximum students enrolment and strengthening students support system.
