PESHAWAR: Doctors in the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Thursday threatened to suspend services if the government failed to finalise the inquiry committee report over clash between paramedical staff and doctors on hostel issue a few days ago.
On November 16, the paramedical staff and trainee medical officers clashed over a hostel’s possession. However, the hospital administration closed the hostel and asked the Health Department to probe the matter.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Provincial Doctors Association president at LRH Dr Rizwan said the paramedics had beaten up the doctors. He said the provincial government had assured them that they would take action against the culprits but to no avail.
“We have no desire to protest and trouble poor patients but the government compels us to come out on roads and boycott duties,” Dr Rizwan said. He gave three days to the government to finalise the inquiry report and take action against those who caused disturbance in the hospital. The doctors shared photos and videos of the clash and showed that paramedical and other hospital staff caused violence in the hospital.
