ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday informed the Senators that they were able to investigate complicated scams without getting any pressure from any side but without substantial proof they would not produce any case before court of law.
“We had not stopped investigations because of pressures in the inquiry on privatisation of MCB and we were not stopped from discharging our duty,” DG NAB told Senate Standing Committee on Finance which met under chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwalla here at the Parliament Lodges on Tuesday.
Senator Saeed Ghani forcefully presented his arguments before the committee and alleged that NAB did not want to make any progress in this ongoing inquiry which was re-launched on the instruction of Supreme Court of Pakistan. “I will prove that the NAB does not want to do anything,” he added.
DG NAB argued that despite their efforts they were so far unable to get original record from Ministry of Finance and SBP. The Lahore High Court barred the NAB from summoning Mian Mansha but allowed to hold inquiry without taking final decision. The Finance Ministry high-ups told the committee that they had handed over all available record to NAB and nothing was in their possession.
