MARDAN: Unidentified persons lifted a car of an official from the office of the deputy commissioner here on Friday, police sources said.
Hamid Ali, a Naib Tehsildar in Revenue Department, reported to the police that he had come to the office of the deputy commissioner to submit a report on the data collected on the quake victims and damaged buildings in the district. He said he parked his car (HF-338) in the parking lot.
He added that his car was missing when he came out of the office after some time. Meanwhile, thieves broke into several shops and took away mobile phones, mobile recharge cards and other valuables.
Fazle Maula, a resident of Gulshanabad, told police that thieves broke into his shop and took away Rs10,000 cash, mobile recharge cards worth Rs12,000. He said the thieves also took away biometric machine, 40 memory cards worth Rs100,000 from the shop of one Nawabzada. He said the shop of one Ali Rehman was also robbed.
In another incident theft, Mir Alam Khan, a resident of Manga, told the police that thieves broke open the locks of a mosque of Hussain Killay and took away the uninterrupted power supply and batteries from the mosque.
