Rector Yasar University Turkey Prof Dr Mehmet Cemali and Director International Office Ms Patricia Turmenoglu called on Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran at his office here on Thursday. According to a press release, PU Director External Linkages Dr maria Maldonado and a PhD scholar at Yasar University Khawaja Ahmed Muneeb Mehta were also present on the occasion.
The meeting discussed various issues of mutual interest and stressed the need to enhance academic collaboration. Later, the delegation and Punjab University VC Dr Mujahid Kamran visited PU Library. Meanwhile, the international conference on information management and libraries continued at PU on Thursday and renowned speakers from Turkey, Malaysia, India, Iran and UK etc presented their papers and addressed the participants.
On the second day, Prof Yasir Tonta from Hacettepe University, Turkey and Mohammad Amjad Saqib from Akhuwat Foundation were the keynote speakers. The speakers highlighted the importance of information management and threw light on change in behaviours to access information because of new inventions and innovations in technologies. The department is celebrating 100 years of leadership in library and information management education in Asia this year.
