Islamabad: Minister of Education from Belarus Michael A. Zhuravhov on Tuesday visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and showed keen interest in developing cooperative partnership between the two countries at the higher education level.
He appreciated the AIOU for successfully running the open distance learning system and said they could learn from each other experience and expertise for providing quality education to their people.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui received the minister and briefed him about the AIOU’s on-going academic programmes and new initiatives in the field of research, professional development and online learning. The Belarus minister further said that the two sides could enter into bilateral cooperation for students and teachers’ exchange programme as well as jointly holding workshops and symposiums. A delegation of senior academicians from his country will visit Pakistan in March next year and could discuss the mode of bilateral cooperation, he added.
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui told the visiting delegation that the AIOU is actively engaged in transforming the life of people by providing them affordable quality education.
The Belarus minister took round of various departments of the university. Deans and heads of various departments were also present on the occasion.
