The purported leakage on social media of the contents of the entrance exam of the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) has put a big question mark on the credibility of the entire admission system of the college even though the administration had hired a private institution for conducting the exam.
However, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan stepped in and directed the authorities to hold the test according to schedule while ensuring transparency, leading the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to revoke its earlier decision of delaying the test.
Around 4,000 students are expected to appear in the aptitude test on Sunday for admission to the KMDC. However, after reports of the leaked question paper surfaced, KMC metropolitan commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui made an announcement to cancel the test on Saturday evening after he too received a copy of it.
The IoBM, however, responded promptly and assured the KMC that the question paper had been changed and it was “100 percent” secure, and the institute is ready to hold the entrance exam on Sunday”.
“I had decided to cancel the aptitude test for the KMDC after I received the question paper of tomorrow’s [Sunday’s] aptitude test, but later the IoBM assured us that they had changed the content and are now ready to take the entrance exam as per schedule,” said Siddiqui.
“On the assurance of the IoBM, I have revoked my earlier decision. Now the aptitude will be held as per schedule on Sunday, Nov 1.”
KMDC Principal Dr Nargis Anjum also announced that after the assurance of the IoBM that the question paper had been changed, the entrance test for admission to the KMDC would be held as per schedule on Sunday morning.
