LAHORE
The Punjab Police have started a central identical computerised “Driving Licence Issuance Management System” (DLIMS), through which not only the licence forgery could be stopped but these licences could also be used as state ID and will also be helpful for the law enforcing agencies to trace such anti-state elements through the features incorporated in this system.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at the inaugural ceremony of DLIMS held at Qurban Lines, Lahore Thursday. Additional IGP Traffic Punjab, Rai Altaf Hussain, DIG Telecommunications, Tariq Rustam Chohan, DIG Traffic Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, SSP Headquarters Traffic, Dr Abid and four members of PITB were also present on this occasion. Addressing on this occasion, IGP appreciated the joint efforts being rendered by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Traffic Police Management for establishing such state-of-the-art project.
IGP said that these licences could be used as state ID as all features, including the CNIC number, contact number, address, blood group and height of the licence holder have been incorporated in this licence. These licences will be up to the international standards and would also be machine readable and would be helpful in tracing and matching the data with NADRA in case of any traffic violation.
This system was installed in all 37 districts of Punjab and any person can apply for licence in his nearest and respective district. The applicant can receive the licence within five days through courier.
Later, IGP inaugurated formally the DLIMS at Qurban Lines. Additional IGP Traffic, Rai Altaf Hussain presented a souvenir to IGP.
