Seven die in road accident

Seven people died while 13 others received injuries when a carry-van collided with a high roof van near Shamkay Bhattian in the Sundar police limits on Thursday morning.
Edhi ambulances reached the incident place on information and shifted the victims to Jinnah Hospital. Four persons died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The condition of injured persons was stated to be critical.
One of the deceased persons was identified as Mansha, 50, a resident of Faisalabad. The injured persons were identified as Amir Mehmood, 20, Akram, 25, Takbeer, 29, Mohsin, 28, Sumera, 30, Akhtar Abbass, 32, Fiaz, 26, Faheem, 35, Ashiq, Imran, Sadia, 22 and Asad, 19.
Rescue officials said that a van was carrying passengers from Lahore to Okara. When it reached near Shamkay Bhattian, its tyre burst. The driver lost control and the van moved on opposite line of the road. A carry-van coming from opposite direction hit the van. Both vehicles overturned. Meanwhile, another passenger bus rammed into the vehicles. As a result, four people, including two of carry-van died on the spot. A passerby informed rescue teams. They reached the incident place on information and shifted the victims to nearby hospital where doctors pronounced three of them brought dead.
Police reached the incident place on information and removed the bodies to morgue. They also collected forensic evidences from crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses.
Meanwhile, 566 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all the districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which eight lives were lost and 447 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 207 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by emergency medical teams.
