JHANG: Additional District Collector/Administrator TMA Babar Rehman Tuesday directed the TMO, TO (I&S) and TO (Planning) to ensure emergency doors in commercial buildings and plazas during granting approval of their construction to handle situation arising from earthquakes and fire incidents.
Addressing a meeting, Babar said availability of fire-safety equipment and emergency exits must be ensured at all commercial buildings with the coordination of Rescue-1122. He directed the TMA officials to coordinate and support the rescuers who have launched a campaign to educate owners of plazas as well as general public about the steps they could take to prevent during earthquake and fire emergency.
Babar asked the DO (Civil Defence) to make an effective liaison with TMA and Rescue 1122 in this regard and to improve the performance of the Civil Defence officials. He added emergency mock exercises would be started to educate college and school students to deal with earthquake and any other emergency situation.
