NAB to approve new SOPs today for effective performance

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) will give approval to new Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) today (Monday) in order to expedite and make efficient operational performance of corruption cases. NAB Chairman Chaudhry Qamar Zaman summoned director generals’ conference in this regard.
According to the sources, a strategy has been chalked out to dispose of 1,133 pending corruption cases against bureaucracy of the four provinces, official contractors, business community and elected representatives by December 31 and accelerate and make efficient the operational performance of other mega corruption cases. Its approval will be given in the NAB DGs conference.
The performance report of operation, prosecution, human resource, awareness and prevention divisions of the NAB will be reviewed during the meeting. The DGs conference will also approve some new proposals to strengthen internal system of accountability.
Besides it the performance of monitoring and review department will also be reviewed during the meeting. The NAB chairman will stress on disposing of the corruption applications within stipulated time. For the first Time 110 investigation officers of NAB received training from Police College Sihala on modern lines.
NAB Chairman Chaudhry Qamar Zaman implemented reforming agenda in NAB and through this, online monitoring was being carried out on the daily performance of officers, under investigation and under trial cases, daily filing and disposing of applications. The NAB chairman is personally monitoring this process.
