SWABI: Reacting to the termination of his basic membership by the Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP), Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Babar Khan said on Sunday that he was the elected representative of thousands of people and he would fight a legal battle if an effort was made to de-seat him. Babar Khan, who is the son of late Dr Muhammad Salim, (founder of the Swabi Qaumi Mahaz), was elected as MPA from PK-31 in the 2013 general election on AJIP ticket. Speaking at a press conference here, he said that the AJIP leaders should have issued a show-cause notice to Liaqat Khan Tarakai, who is father of provincial Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, instead of terminating his party membership. He said that Liaqat Tarakai was elected as senator on the ticket of the PTI. The MPA said that he was elected on AJIP ticket, but never violated party discipline. He believed he only fought for the rights of his constituents.Answering a question, he said that the AJIP leadership had already decided to merge their party into PTI, adding that he was not consulted before making the decision about the merger. He alleged the AJIP leadership ignored him on many occasions and deprived his constituency of its development funds. Replying to a question, Babar Khan said that he didn’t bother to reply to the show-cause notice as it was sent to him through the manager of the Tarakai Company. He challenged Shahram Tarakai to hold live discussion with him on television to prove as to who was right.ANP condemns arrest warrants of Sitara Ayaz: The district chapter of Awami National Party (ANP) has condemned the issuance of arrest warrants for former provincial minister and ANP Senator Sitara Ayaz by provincial Ehtesab Commission.
