LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami secretary-general Liaqat Baloch has urged Ulema from all schools of thought and all religious parties to refrain from displaying or allowing extremism and intolerance and promote love, brotherhood and harmony during Muharram.
Addressing the concluding session of JI central workshop at Mansoora on Thursday, he said the martyrdom of second Caliph Hazrat Omar (RA) and Imam Hussain (RA) had made Muharram sacred for the entire Ummah. He said JI was trying to bring Ulema from all schools of thought at one platform to prevent mischief and tensions. Referring to the recent developments in India, Baloch said India’s attitude towards the minorities, especially the Muslims, was hostile and negated New Delhi’s claims of secularism. He said Modi’s enmity towards the Muslims was not something secret as the minorities in India were insecure and facing harassment.
