Three Ahmadis injured in gun attack in Gulshan

Three members of the Ahmadiyya community were injured in a gun attack in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Sunday night.
Saleem Rafaqat, 55, and his nephews, Shahmir Ahmad, 17, and Moaaz Ahmad, 20, were returning home in their car when two men standing near the gate of a house fired gunshots at them.
They were taken to a hospital. Shahmir suffered a bullet wound to his stomach and is currently on a ventilator in the ICU. Rafaqat suffered a bullet wound each to his shoulder and back but is now in a stable condition. Moaaz also suffered injuries but was discharged after the provision of first aid. On March 21, a young Ahmadi man, Nauman Najam, was murdered in a similar attack.
Saleem Uddin, the spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya community, expressed his grief and sorrow over the incident and said hate literature against the Ahmadiyya community was continuously being published and distributed.
“This is putting the lives of Ahmadis in danger. It was clearly mentioned in the National Action Plan that action would be taken against literature and speech promoting hatred. But these activities are still under way against Ahmadis,” he added.
He demanded that the authorities concerned should immediately arrest the people involved in the attack. Police said they were investigating the case.
