ABBOTTABAD: Nine students were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals whereas 650 students from different faculties were awarded degrees in the 79th convocation of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Abbottabad, on Saturday.
Rector CIIT Dr S M Junaid Zaidi, who was the chief guest, awarded degrees to the students. Members board of directors, campus directors and head of departments were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the convocation ceremony, Dr Junaid Zaidi said it was the era of knowledge revolution and only nations with better ability to produce and use knowledge would progress.
He emphasised on the role of youth in nation building as they have the passion to work for the uplift of their motherland; therefore, he advised the graduating students to render their efforts for the bright future of Pakistan.
He said positive thinking and self-belief were must to achieve progress in all spheres of life. Junaid Zaidi congratulated the graduating students and their parents.
He advised graduating students to base their practical life on the principles of honesty, sincerity and truthfulness and to work for the progress and well-being of Pakistan.
He also thanked the security forces for supporting COMSATS Institute of Information Technology in its endeavours to improve standards of higher education in Pakistan. He expressed his gratitude to the army for allocating precious land for different campuses of CIIT.
Campus Director Prof Dr Khan Gul Jadoon expressed his gratitude and satisfaction over the Institute’s conduct and achievements at academic and research fronts. He attributed CIIT Abbottabad’s success to the hard work of faculty and other staff.
