RAWALPINDI: Once again the lawyers of the supermodel have been able to save the skin of Ayyan Ali as she could not be indicted in currency smuggling case on Thursday.
Counsel Latif Khosa did not appear before the court here on Thursday.
In a state of anger, Special Customs Court (SCC), Rawalpindi Judge Rana Aftab Ahmed said that roughly ten court hearings were held for indictment but somehow the process was delayed.
As the hearing was initiated on Thursday, the judge asked Ayyan Ali’s junior counsel to ask Latif Khosa about any objection to the matter as she would be indicted. Upon which Rai Mudassar submitted that complete challan of others nominated in the case had not been filed yet.
The judge said that he could not work at the disposal of customs officials. Ali’s challan had been filed which declared her responsible for the crime, he added. The judge then asked Rai Mudassar to present arguments against her indictment.
Customs special prosecutor Ameen Feroz said that a complete challan had been filed against Ali. He urged the court to indict her without any further delay as all investigation against her had been completed.
However, junior counsel Rai Mudassar requested the court to adjourn the hearing as Khosa could not appear on Thursday. The judge gave next hearing date for indictment and called the parties on October 15.
