PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have chalked out a security plan for the peaceful observance of Muharram starting from the next week.
Meetings were held at divisional and district headquarters to finalise security arrangements.
In Peshawar, a meeting was held which was co-chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mubarak Zeb and Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mian Saeed Ahmad.
The CCPO directed all the sub-divisional police officers to carry out search and strike operations in their areas ahead of the start of the month. The officers were directed to check hotels and inns. They were asked to lodge cases against the landlords who have not registered tenants with the local police station.
The officers were directed to hold meetings with the elders from both the Shia and Sunni sects. They were told to hold meetings with the caretakers of the imambargahs and processions so that security measures could be taken for them.
