PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) on Sunday asked the government to provide compensation to the farmers affected by the hailstorm. ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan said that the hailstorm had destroyed standing crop in the province. He said that wheat, tobacco, vegetables and fruits were destroyed in the hailstorm and asked the government to announce compensation for the farmers. The ANP leader said that it was the responsibility of the government to support the farmers when their standing crops were destroyed and were left with no other source of income. He asked the government start damage assessment forthwith to ensure provision of compensation to the farmers in due time.
