Veteran of Pakistan Movement passes away

SWABI: Muhammad Sher Khan advocate, a leader who played a role in the Pakistan Movement as a young worker of All India Muslim League (AIML), passed away here on Thursday after a protracted illness.
He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Kalu Khan. The funeral was attended by distinguished Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders, politicians of the various political parties, officials of the district administration and people of the district.
He is survived by five sons and two daughters.
The deceased who was born on March 24, 1929 in Kalu Khan, a small village of the district, had used to say frequently that he was born a Muslim Leaguer and he would die in that position as well.
He received early education in Rustam in Mardan and then passed his secondary school certificate examination from Government High School Mardan. He remained enrolled at the Islamia College Peshawar for four years.
Despite the numerous ups and downs in the Muslim League and its division in factions, he always remained a staunch Leaguer and remained in the camps of those who strived to materialise the dream of the founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
He was having the honour to become the part of the first batch of the Law College in 1952 and after completion of his law education he started work as lawyer.
During his student life, he was also arrested and confined in Haripur Prison as member of the Muslim Students Federation.
He was a high court lawyer and was elected six times as president of Swabi Bar Association. He mostly returned unopposed. He was among the founding fathers of the Swabi Bar.
Meanwhile, Swabi Bar Association in a condolence message paid rich tributes to the deceased. They said that he would be remembered forever for his contributions and the guidance he provided to the district lawyers.
