A 35-year-old woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Baghbanpura on Wednesday.
The deceased woman was identified as Farrukh Bibi, wife of Mohammad Sajid of Asif Colony Baghbanpura. Police said Farrukh Bibi, mother of two children, was depressed over some unknown issues. On the day of the incident, she swallowed poisonous pills. As a result, her condition went critical. She was rushed to a local hospital where she expired. Police shifted the body to morgue.
MINOR DIES: A seven-year-old boy expired in a local hospital on Wednesday, two days after he was hit by a stray bullet on the rooftop of his house in the Shalimar area.The victim was identified as Oman, son of Shahid of Mian Mohammad Din Colony, Shalimar. It was reported that the boy Oman along with his father was asleep on the rooftop of his house two days back when he was hit by a stray bullet. He was admitted to a local hospital where he died on Wednesday. Police shifted the body to morgue and registered a murder case against unknown persons.
ACCIDENTS: Total 471 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which three lives were lost and 365 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 191 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.
PARKADE: City Traffic police set up temporary parking lots near mosques and parks to facilitate the citizens during the three days of Eid holidays.At least 3,000 traffic officials, 180 patrolling officers, 104 inspectors and 13 DSPs will perform duty during the three days of Eid holidays under the supervision of two SPs.
CTO said that additional force had been deployed at entry and exit points of the city. He directed the officers and officials to keep vigil on suspects and ensure smooth flow of traffic on city roads.
