DCO cancels leaves of workers

KASUR: To cope with feared flood, Kasur DCO Adnan Arshad Aulakh Tuesday suspended leaves of workers of various departments and directed heads of various departments to remain prepared to handle the situation.
In a meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee at his office, ADC Muhammad Shahid briefed the DCO that arrangements were complete to meet any eventuality in flood areas.
RAIN AFFECTS ANIMAL TRADERS: Heavy rain affected traders of sacrificial animals in Kasur as hundreds of animals braved the rain in the open.
The traders criticized tall claims of the Punjab government to facilitate them and their livestock.
They said there was no arrangement of tents by the district administration to protect them from bad weather.
Some traders at Dosahra ground sale point said rain and cold weather would make sacrificial animals ill, particularly goats get cold and fever for remaining standing in water or mud.
They feared that if the situation persisted they would have no option except selling their animals at very less price.
They complained of scarcity of water for animals, saying that the district government failed to control the prices of fodder. The DCO was not available for comments despite repeated calls.
