ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Bar Association has condemned act of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to pressurise the judiciary and mulling over the option to file reference in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal.
President IHC Bar Association Chaudhry Haseeb discussed filing reference against the NAB chairman in a conference call to senior bar members. Chaudhry Haseeb said that during hearing of bail petition of former federal minister Akram Durrani, the NAB produced the list of illegal allotment of houses in which names of judges were also included intentionally to pressurise them.
He said that on this act of NAB, Justice Athar Minallah remarked that this is like blackmailing the judges.
The IHC Bar Association president said that the matter is in the court and the court has also sought reply from NAB in this regard. “We are also waiting for NAB reply after that the bar will decide to file reference against the NAB chairman in the SJC,” he said.
