SWABI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached nine in Swabi district as a local leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and another person tested positive for Covid-19, said an official on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner, Swabi, Shahid Mahmood said PTI district leader Shah Wali and another person identified as Mohammad Sher had tested positive for the coronavirus. He said that with the latest two cases the number of coronavirus patients in the district had reached nine.
The official said that two cases were confirmed on Monday. Shahid Mahmood said it was not known as to how Shah Wali got infected while Mohammad Sher may have got infected from another person from his village who had also tested positive. Soon after the confirmation of the two cases, the district administration asked the residents of the two localities not to move out of their residences and stay indoors.
About 25 people from the district have been tested of whom nine tested positive and the remaining 16 were negative.
