MANSEHRA: The elders of Torghar district on Tuesday threatened to stage protest if the Judbah-Thakot road, which was blocked because of heavy landslide, was not reopened to traffic soon.
The elders had gathered at Spinzar area to demand reopening of the blocked road. The Judbah-Thakot road, which was cleared by locals on self-help basis the other day, was blocked once again following heavy landslide suspending traffic to Torghar with rest of Hazara division.
Assistant Commissioner, Safdar Azam Qurashi assured the elders the Judbah-Thakot road, which was blocked because of heavy landslide, would soon be cleared to traffic. “The landslide will be removed through shovels machine and I request you to be calm as district administration would shortly reopen it to traffic,” Assistant Commissioner, Safdar Azam Qurashi,” told the elders from Torghar district at Spinzar area.
The elders said that the Communication and Works Department didn’t clear Judbah-Thakot road to traffic when it was blocked last week and locals cleared it on self-help basis.
“We will stage protest if the road is not cleared to traffic soon,” said one Rubnawaz. The assistant commissioner assured them that he would move in shovel machines to clear the main artery to traffic.
