RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has said “every citizen counts as we strive to scale this calamity” as he led the 231st Corps Commanders Conference via video link which focused, among other things, on the situation arising from Covid-19.
Gen Bajwa passed the directives during the Corps Commanders’ Conference held, here on Tuesday. According to an ISPR press release, the corps commanders participated through video link from respective headquarters.
The forum reviewed the geo-strategic, regional and national security environment with particular emphasis on latest situation arising from Covid-19. The forum undertook a comprehensive review of deployment of Pakistan Army troops assisting civil administration in aid of civil power across the country. The forum was also apprised of the NCOC’s functioning, which was established to synergise and articulate the national effort for the containment of the pandemic.
Appreciating the troops in the field for their efforts so far, the Army chief directed all commanders to extend maximum assistance in moving critical resources and reaching out to mitigate suffering of people in far-flung areas, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, interior Sindh and Balochistan.
The forum paid tribute to those on frontline, including doctors, paramedics, healthcare workers and LEAs (law enforcement agencies) for braving this pandemic under challenging environment. The top brass also paid tribute to the Kashmiri people who are fighting the pandemic under Indian atrocities and struggling for their just cause of self-determination. “Every citizen counts as we strive to scale this calamity. Being a nation with vibrant youth and resilient people ready to share and sacrifice, we will emerge stronger from this challenge, InshaAllah,” Gen Bajwa concluded.
