ISLAMABAD: Over 200 retired employees of the Pakistan Medical Research Council (PMRC) have been facing great hardship for not getting monthly pensions for the last 15 months. In the last 15 months, the pensioners have knocked doors of every possible forum but to no avail. They have demanded of the prime minister and the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to come to their rescue and order release of their pensions and save their families from starvation. Muhammad Akhtar said he retired as assistant from PMRC in 2002 and has not received monthly pension for the last 15 months. The retired employees of PMRC were drawing pensions on regular basis when the same was stopped from January, 2019 without conveying any reason to pensioners. Shah Tamroz, a senior citizen said he retired from PMRC 12 years back and he also had not received his pension since January, 2019. The pensioners, who retired after January, 2019 were also being denied their pensions.
