Shahbaz suggests CCI to convene daily
LAHORE: Opposition leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting should be held on a daily basis.
He said the supply of protective dress and other necessary equipment to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff as well as to the provinces should be ensured on priority basis.
Shahbaz said the increasing number of coronavirus patients was worrisome, adding: “It is the federal government’s apathy and criminal act to neglect the provinces under such circumstances”. The opposition leader said the provinces were not briefed on the procedure of resource distribution.
“Number of coronavirus patients turning into thousands from hundreds is alarming and if the government does not take timely steps the pandemic would be damaging for the country,” he said.
“The government has no strategy to deal with the effects of lockdown and until the government will understand the trend of coronavirus it will be too late,” he added.
He said if all provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan got Rs 25 billion the situation could have been better than the present.
