City administration to devise strategy for charities & alms seekers

Islamabad : In a state of crisis and natural catastrophe, people of this country, regardless of their positions or status, come out to help the deprived and tyrannized populace and stand with them as a nation. Majority of the people in our part of world prefer to give charities and with their own hands instead of depositing in emergency fund- accounts announced by the government in face of any disaster and pandemic.

Amidst prevailing scenario, when the entire country is going through a partial and complete lockdown in various parts of Pakistan, daily wage earners, laborers and unemployed people are facing the worst situation with limited resources.

On call of the government and witnessing prevailing hard times, affluent and philanthropists have come out to assist the people with bags of daily commodities and also seen distributing net cash among deserving people sitting on road sides.

In posh areas of the federal capital, specifically, in the surroundings of Jinnah Super Market and other areas of the federal capital, hundreds of daily wage earner and laborers use to come in and are seen sitting at adjacent roads with their tools keeping ahead of them.

Amidst prevailing scenario, when the entire capital city is lock down, one can still witness hundreds of laborers sitting on adjacent roads in the surroundings of Jinnah Super market. This time, these laborers did not wait for labor but keep looking for any vehicle to stop near them and distribute cash, eatables and commodities bags.

There are also instances that dozens of people on motorbikes keep on waiting in surrounding areas of Jinnah Super Market and whenever affluent people visits these laborers, these professional on motorbikes come in flocks to win the charities from visiting philanthropists.

Few days back, a woman visited the locality in surroundings of Jinnah Super Market to distribute charity among laborers and within seconds hundreds of people gathered and broke window mirrors of the vehicle as a result she drive away to escape from them.

Anila Riazud Din, 52, a resident of College Road, F-7/2 talking to this scribe stated that City District Administration claimed to lock down the capital city but in a routine, hundreds of laborers and other people can be witnessed sitting on adjacent roads with bikes and laboring tools. These people keep on waiting and waiting for charities and alms and their presence could be possible threat in wake of Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in the locality.

On other side, city district administration has not yet devised any strategy and planning to contain this issue as there is not any facility available for affluent and philanthropists to deposit their charities at one point and providing assistance for needful to take advantage amidst this pandemic outbreak time.

The entire nation is united in wake of ongoing pandemic crisis and scores of charity organizations with public support providing basic necessities of life at doorstep of needy people. People of posh localities of Islamabad are also seen visiting ‘Kachi Abadis’ to assist the daily wage earners and laboring class with their own hands.

The government should devise a mechanism at respective local level convince affluent people to deposit charities and eatables at a centralized location and invite downtrodden to take advantage from the centralized location at Union Council level.

Meanwhile, city district government has to keep check on vogues roaming in the city on pretext of laborers and needful.

The nation has decided that amidst prevailing wake of Coronavirus outbreak, kitchen of each and every individual should be keep going with availability of food in every household but respective government machinery have also devised a strategy to discourage rogues roaming in the cities in pretext of needful and laboring class.

Rohail Hayat, 45, a resident of F-8/1 stated that a new instance is developing as laborers with their laboring tools use to visit homes all over the day in their locality, which is very concerning specifically amidst Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in the city.

City district government should devise effective planning in this scenario adding that challenges and calamities sometimes comes like a test for humans and at this time, everyone should take care of needful but people gets discouragements when some becomes professional in taking advantage from the given situation.
