Cop martyred in Mir Ali blast
MIRANSHAH: A head constable of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police was martyred and another cop was injured in a blast caused by an explosive in the Mir Ali subdivision here Monday, police officials said.
According to officials, Head Constable Rahman Ayaz along with Sepoy Noor Mohammad was traveling in their private vehicle when a blast took place in the car when they were passing through Mir Ali.
Rahman Ayaz suffered serious injuries while Noor Mohammad was slightly injured in the blast. Both were shifted to the hospital in Mir Ali, where Rahman Ayaz succumbed to his injuries. District Police Officer of North Waziristan, Shafiullah Khan, confirmed the incident and the loss of life. He told The News that as per initial investigations, it seemed someone had planted an explosive device inside their private vehicle that went off near Mir Ali. He said Rahman Ayaz was laid to rest with full state honours in his native Mir Ali town. The police officer said the injured cop was being looked after and his condition was stable. No arrest was made till the filing of this report.
