Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a policeman and street crime.
According to District Central SSP Arif Aslam Rao, the arrests were made by the Sir Syed police. He said an arrested suspect, identified as Shamroz, had killed a police head constable, namely Jafar Hussain, when the latter resisted his mugging bid in the Nagan Chowrangi area on March 19.
SSP Rao said his two companions, namely Iqbal and Rehan, had already arrested while the police arrested two more of his companions, namely Adil and Danish, on Sunday. The arrested suspects, he said, had admitted their involvement in the murder of the police head constable. The officer said the arrested suspects had been involved in various cases of street crime.
SSP Rao also claimed to have found three pistols, snatched cell phones and cash in their possession. He said the police also found a motorcycle in their possession which was stolen in the limits of Taimuria police station. Cases against them have been registered and investigations are under way.
