60 patients in twin cities

The number of confirmed patients of COVID-19, the disease caused by 2019 novel coronavirus is continuously on the rise in this region of the country as the number of patients tested positive for COVID-19 has already crossed the figure of 60 in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The official figure released by the Command and Control Centre was showing a total of 39 confirmed cases of the disease in the federal capital on Saturday evening while over 22 patients have already been tested positive from Rawalpindi. According to Command and Control Centre, a total of 1,408 patients have been tested positive all across the country for COVID-19 till Saturday evening that means 4.3 per cent of all cases so far confirmed in Pakistan are from the twin cities.

The continuous increase in number of confirmed COVID-19 patients from the twin cities is alarming and it hints that the population in the region may face a much severe outbreak of the disease in the coming days, said a senior health official pleading anonymity. Of 60 patients tested positive for the disease in the twin cities, only two have been discharged from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences after complete cure while one expired in Rawalpindi. All the patients tested positive in Rawalpindi have been undergoing treatment at the hospitals though in the federal capital, more than 50 per cent of the confirmed patients did not require hospitalization.
