Thar Foundation converts hospital into nine room isolation centre
SUKKUR: Taking preventive measures to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, the Thar Foundation has dedicated its hospital and converted it into a nine room isolation center in Islamkot. The Thar Foundation, a CSR arm of the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), on Thursday handed over the isolation centre to the health department, Government of Sindh, with required facilities. The medical facility of Islamkot has been established in the centre of district Tharparkar, so that any coronavirus suspect cases may be isolated with utmost care.
The facility has nine isolation rooms with all the basic facilities i.e. sanitizer machines, wash basin, necessary utensils, medical supplies and personal hygiene kits. The isolation centre has been equipped with medical supplies, medicines, disposal safety kits, N-95 and surgical masks, oxygen cylinders, standby generators and all the necessary digital equipment. The isolation center facility was visited by the Pak Army brigade command and district administration officials, who thanked the Thar Foundation for extending great support in testing times. Different groups of media representatives also visited the facility.
The Thar Foundation Manager, Mohsin Babbar, briefed the delegation about the centre and facilities provided. He said Engro Corporation is a valued partner of the Government of Sindh and ready to support its endeavor in the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic. He said they would continue to support the district administration and health department, Government of Sindh, and all other medical supplies will be ensured for the isolation centre.
Brig Salman of Pakistan Army was happy to see the coordinated efforts put in place by the district administration and the facility dedicated by Thar Foundation and Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC). “The Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies are in full support of civil administration and there is no question that we will win over this pandemic by all means through a well-coordinated joint effort,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, Dr Shahzad Thaheem said that all stakeholders of the district are one page in the fight against deadly coronavirus and helping the centralized taskforce. He said the Government of Sindh was providing all support in this connection and streamlining medical supplies. The people of Tharparkar, he added, have cooperated in voluntarily locking down themselves in towns and rural settlements. The delegation which visited the Thar Foundation Isolation Center included Col Khaliq of Pakistan Army, Additional District Health Officer Dr. Gordhan, Medical Superintendent Rural Health Center Islamkot Dr. Ghulam Nabi Shah Jeelani, Assistant Commissioner Islamkot Naheed Mirani, Fayyaz Shaikh of Thar Foundation, Town Chairman Islamkot Kamlesh Kumar, Mukhtiarkar Islamkot and others.
