KP kicks off chlorination of public places to fight coronavirus
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started spraying chlorine solution in streets, offices and public spots to disinfect these places from coronavirus and other viruses.
The province is the first one to have started disinfecting public places. On Sunday, trucks of the Rescue 1122 sprayed chlorine all over the Civil Secretariat as well as offices and streets in the Red Zone where offices and residences of the governor, chief minister, speaker and other officials are located.
Workers chlorinated the streets throughout the day in Charsadda, Kohat and other districts of the province where people were staying in the home as part of social distancing. “We are disinfecting the streets and offices the same way in other districts. The formula has been circulated for large scale spraying of roads, streets," Abid Majeed, secretary Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement KP, told The News. All the offices of Rescue 1122 have been conveyed the formula for the spray. For a 7,000-litre capacity water tank, 35gm of chlorine and 2.1-litre methanol is added to water to spray the public places. "Most of the tankers are of 7,000 litres capacity. Rescue 1122 team and TMA chlorinated different areas in Peshawar as well as Farooq Azam Chowk, Mardan Road, Nowshera Road, DC office bypass and many areas in Charsadda," said Majeed.
