Police say Sheeba Ahmed, a chemical exporter, is a hate preacher affiliated with Tanzeem-e-Islami

Karachi A suspected terrorist facilitator, affiliated with the Tanzeem-e-Islami and believed to have assisted the perpetrators of the Safoora Goth bus attack, has been arrested, police said on Wednesday. Counter-terrorism department investigation wing SSP Naveed Nisar Khwaja said Sheeba Ahmed, a chemical exporter, was arrested at his bungalow in a posh locality of the city. The official added that Ahmed was arrested on the basis of information disclosed during interrogation by Saad Aziz and Azhar Ishrat, the suspects in the Safoora Goth attack on May 13 in which 47 members of the Ismail community travelling in a bus were murdered. They had told interrogators that Ahmed was not only their preachers, but had also financially assisted them in carrying out the attack. The official said Ahmed had connections in neighbouring countries and financed terrorists using the money he earned through his export business. He added that Ahmed was also a hate preacher and had incited the men involved in Safoora Goth bus firing to attack the Ismaili community. Besides, a terrorist named Hassan Zaheer, who was arrested by police in Lahore a few weeks ago, had also disclosed that Ahmed was providing financial support to terrorists being treated at hospitals in Punjab’s capital city.
Two firefighters arrested The personnel of Sindh Rangers conducted raid at the central fire brigade office near Civil Hospital Karachi from where they arrested two firemen. Geo News reported that paramilitary personnel raided the fire brigade office and cordoned it off before picking up two fire fighters and shifting them to an unidentified location. The arrested firemen were identified as Abdul Waheed and Abdul Hafeez, residents of Central Fire Brigade Colony.
Nine suspects held The paramilitary force during their targeted raids in different parts of the city had arrested nine suspects. The Rangers spokesman said, nine alleged armed criminals were arrested in targeted raids at Safoora Chowrangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Katti Pahari, Orangi and Surjani Town areas.
