BAHAWALPUR: Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench Bar Association president Khair Muhammad Bhadera has condemned registration of a false and fabricated FIR under 7-ATA and other sections of the PPC against former DBA president Malik Imtiaz Mehmood and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.
Addressing press conference here on Tuesday, he said the matter could be referred to Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana, being representative of lawyers, if the district administration was scared of the judicial inquiry. He appealed to the district administration and officials of the revenue and other departments to show restraint to keep the situation in control. He said the lawyers community was ready to resolve the issue amicably despite registration of a false FIR against the senior lawyer. He said the FIR had been challenged in the LHC Bahawalpur Bench.
When contacted, DCO Imran Sikandar Baloch said the matter should be proceeded according to law. He said he could not leave the officer at the mercy of a lawyer.
