DERA GHAZI KHAN: According to an official report compiled by the district administration, some eight people died and over 800 houses were demolished during the last month flood in Dera Ghazi Khan district.
The report compiled by the revenue department in collaboration with the other departments revealed that hill torrent as well as the flood in the river Indus swept away the vast populated and the cropped area in the Suleman ranges and the settled localities.
The report gave names of people who were killed by flood water. It said flood demolished houses and damaged standing crops. The report mentioned that the flood also damaged forty-four educational institutions. Additional District Collector and focal person for the committee assessing the losses Mehboob Ahmed said the Punjab government would soon compensate the victims with Rs 500,000 each while the flood hit families would also be compensated according to the nature of their losses.
