ISLAMABAD: Pakistan says that it does not have aggressive designs against any country and has a defence doctrine but if challenged every Pakistani was ready to offer sacrifice.
The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi also observed the 50th Defence Day of Pakistan on Sunday to pay homage and tributes to the martyrs, who rendered the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the Pakistan in the 1965 war. In this regard, special prayers were also offered for the solidarity, integrity and prosperity of the nation. The Indian High Commission in Islamabad did not hold any function though there were elaborate functions in New Delhi and other Indian cities.
High Commissioner Abdul Basit in a statement from his office said that the 1965 war was a testament of Pakistan’s unflinching national resolve to protect the motherland against foreign aggression.
“Our armed forces demonstrated unparalleled valour and fought with unmatched resolve, patriotism and the love for martyrdom. The high commissioner said Pakistan was a peace-loving country. “Our security calculus was therefore based on defence doctrines,” he told the gathering which included students of the Pakistan High Commission School who presented a colourful programme based on national songs and a tableau.
He further said, “We do not have aggressive designs against any country but we, as a nation, are determined to protect every inch of our country and every Pakistani is ready to render any sacrifice in this regard.”
Brigadier Saqib Mehmood Mailk, Defence and Army Adviser at the High Commission, also spoke on the importance of the day, and a documentary on the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan armed forces in the 1965 war was also screened.
