Khyber militancy victims handed compensation cheques
BARA: The security forces and Khyber district administration distributed compensation cheques to the Shalobar Afridi tribespeople for their homes destroyed in militancy and subsequent military operation.
A ceremony was held in Maidan area in Tirah valley on Thursday where Brig Shehryar Qureshi and Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam Wazir distributed 128 cheques. The compensation amount included Rs4,00,000 for a destroyed house and Rs1,60,000 for a partially damaged one. Later, the deputy commissioner held a public forum at Bagh Markaz where the locals discussed their problems. They complained that people had been facing health, education and other problems for the last several years.
The people demanded the official to allow the residents to ply non-custom paid vehicles in Bara subdivision. They also demanded the establishment of a NADRA office in the area and supply of electricity to Tirah valley.
The people sought compensation for their lands, which had been acquired by the authorities for constructing roads. Mahmood Aslam Wazir assured to solve all problems.
