DIR: The residents of the Patrak Union Council in Upper Dir were over the moon with joy as a project was launched to electrify Bishu and Siyasan villages.
They were present at the inaugural ceremony of the 200KV hydel power project being set up with the assistance of the German government and the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) through the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund. More than 5,000 households in the two villages will benefit from the project.
DC of Upper Dir Dr Imran Sheikh and Brigade Commander of 26 Division Brigadier Azmat were also present on the occasion. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran.
The local elders thanked them for undertaking the four-hour long journey to reach the villages. Brigadier Azmat lauded the SRSP for its endeavours for improving the standard of life of the people and said its efforts would help meet the basic needs of the people.
