TIMERGARA: The removal of three ministers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet have raised the expectations of the residents of Lower Dir as they hope the district will get representation in the provincial cabinet this time.
The supporters of each elected member from Lower Dir hope that their elected representative would be included in the provincial cabinet. Some even took to the social media platforms to express the desire for including their elected representative in the cabinet.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won six out of seven seats including two national assembly and four provincial assembly seats during the general election in 2018. The party candidates had defeated Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in its own stronghold but the residents of Lower Dir were disappointed when Chief Minister Mahmood Khan announced the provincial cabinet as not a single member from Lower Dir was included in it. It was hoped that the chief minister would induct an MPA from Lower Dir district during the cabinet expansion but that did not happen. It deepened the sense of deprivation among the people of Lower Dir in general and the PTI workers in particular. They had complained that the provincial government did not initiate even a single mega project in the district. The PTI workers had expressed resentment at the workers convention at Timergara in the second week of January which led to a clash among the workers.
