LAHORE: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday suspended orders for payment of judicial allowance to courts employees. The bench comprising Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Umar Ata Bandial passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by the Punjab government against Lahore High Court orders for the provision of judicial allowance to the courts employees.
The bench heard the matter at Supreme Court Lahore Registry.
Additional Advocate General Punjab Shan Gull submitted that LHC had ordered the Punjab government for payment of judicial allowance to the courts employees while allowing petitions for the purpose. He submitted that due to lack of funds it was not possible for the government to pay allowance. He contended that the courts employees were not entitled for the such allowance as the government was not paying similar allowance to the employees of other institutions.
