An alleged bandit was gunned down while his two associates and two passersby were injured following a brief encounter with the Counter Terrorist Department’s (CTD) Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday.
According to officials of the Preedy police station, three men riding a motorcycle had intercepted a vehicle, looted cash and other valuables from the passengers on gunpoint, near Radio Pakistan situated on M A Jinnah road.
However, ASI Dilshad of the CTD was on his way to work in a police vehicle when he saw the incident. The men allegedly opened fire on the policeman to which he retaliated, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Rashid.
The other two associates were identified as Ismail and Imran whereas the two passersby were identified as Saleem and Sabir. The ASI was given a reward money of Rs 100,000.
Two shot dead in Lyari
Abid Katchi, 35, was injured when two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets near Al-Falah Road in Lane No 9, situated within the remit of Chakiwara police station, when he was sitting outside his house.
His family and neighbours found him lying on the street after hearing the gunshots and took him to the Civil hospital in critical condition. However, he breathed his last during treatment. The investigators believed that the deceased was murdered by criminal elements on the suspicions of being a police informant since his elder brother had been killed in a similar manner three years ago.
Meanwhile, Mamu Jan, 60, was shot in the same manner near Atar Goth, situated within the remit of Kalri police station. He too had been sitting outside his residence. He was also taken to Civil hospital where he passed away. The police suspected that he was killed due to some personal enmity.
