Malaysian team meets AJK PM
ISLAMABAD: A seven-member delegation of Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation, headed by its President Haji Azmi Mohammad, called on Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan in Muzaffarabad on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider thanked the delegates for visiting Azad Kashmir and raising voice for the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK).
On this occasion, the prime minister expressed profound gratitude to Malaysian Prime Minister Mahatir Mohammad for extending support to the struggling Kashmiris in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
He said Pakistani and Kashmiris enjoy historical relations with Malaysian people and it needs to be further strengthened.
Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that AJK government would provide space and all other requisite facilities for the establishment of Malaysian Cultural Center in the capital city. He apprised the visiting delegates of the huge tourism potential in the state and added that his government is taking special measures to promote it. The prime minister said that state government is extending special assistance to the investors in Azad Kashmir.
Referring to the Kashmir issue, the prime minister regretted that Kashmiris’ expectations to the Muslim world not fulfilled. “Like Malaysia, other Muslims countries should also raise voice for their brethren Kashmiris who are struggling for their internationally acknowledged right to self determination”, he added.
Raja Farooq Haider Khan told delegation that he, along-with his cabinet members would visit Malaysia to promote tourism and culture of Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, President Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation Haji Azmi Mohammad said that purpose of their visit to Azad Kashmir was promoting cultural connections between Kashmiri and Malaysian youth and raising voice for the people of IOK.
He said Kashmiri culture is famous throughout the world and it would be promoted in Malaysia too.
Meanwhile, a delegation of journalists led by President Press Club Bagh Syed Afraz Gardezi called on Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan.
Speaking to them, the Prime Minister said that government has firm believe in freedom of expression. “Development of media is the development of state as healthy journalism practice helps government understand the public problems.
The AJK PM directed the deputy commissioner to initiate the process of the allotment of land for Press Club and Journalists Colony in Bagh city.
