A six-member high-level Chinese delegation visited ANF Headquarters on Wednesday, the ANF said.
The main purpose of the visit was to discuss anti-narcotic matters and share Chinese experience on the subject. Discussions focused on legal framework and areas of mutual cooperation.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Mme. Li Zhihong, Member of Standing Committee, Deputy Director General Law Committee Guangdong Province, China. On Pakistan’s behalf, ANF DG Major General Khawar Hanif headed the dialogue.
Other members of Chinese delegation included Mr. LIN Haokun, Member Standing Committee, Director General of the Judicial and Internal Affairs Committee, Mr. CHEN Junfeng, Member of Standing Committee, Deputy Director General of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture & Public Health, Mme ZHENG Hong, Deputy Secretary General of the Standing Committee, Mr. WU Zhangmin, Deputy Office Director of the Law Committee of Guangdong Provincial Congress and Mr. CHEN Juncheng, English Interpreter of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial Congress. ANF participants included officers from fields of International Cooperation, Law, Intelligence and Enforcement.
Both delegates emphasised need to further cement the brotherly relations of both countries, to enhance intelligence sharing and elimination of impediments in coordinated and international controlled delivery operations. Due emphasis was also laid for up-gradation of legal aspects compatible to prevalent environments. Need for regular interaction, communication and sharing of best practices was also discussed. It is pertinent to mention that in near-past cooperation of Narcotics Control Agencies of both the countries has resulted into many successful seizures of drugs and precursor chemicals.
The visit of the high-level Chinese delegation is regarded as a milestone for bilateral cooperation on drug issues between the two countries. In the past, narcotics control agencies of both countries have remained in cooperation with each other in the fields of capacity-building, including canine, technical upgradation and drug law enforcement training.
