Locals kill leopard after it mauls two people

MINGORA: The people of Sarbanda village in Swat district on Tuesday killed the leopard that had mauled two local people in the vicinity.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Matta Tehsil Shaukat Khan said after the snowfall in the hill station, two leopards came down to the village, where the animals attacked and injured two locals identified as 40-year-old Lal Muhammad, and 24-year old
Abdali. Later, the locals opened fire on and killed the leopard.
The injured people were taken the local hospital, where they received treatment.
The police and wildlife teams rushed to the area, where they asked the local people to be careful in the cold weather as the leopard may come down again to the village in search of food in the snowy season.
According to the Wildlife team, there was the possibility of the presence of more leopards in the nearby forest.
