HELD SRINAGAR: At least eight persons, including three Indian soldiers, were killed in avalanches in Ganderbal, Kupwara and other districts of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) on Tuesday.
Five persons, including a villager and his two sons, died after an avalanche hit Kulan Gagangeer in Sonmarag area of Gandarbal district. The area remained cut off from Srinagar by road while the rescue teams were sent to the area by foot, a local official said.
Meanwhile, three Indian soldiers lost their lives and two others went missing after multiple avalanches hit parts of Kupwara, Baramullah and Ganderbal districts where Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have been deployed.
