The latest threat by President Donald Trump to the Iraqi government is but another bid by the US to colonize the developing world. Trump has threatened to impose economic sanctions, which would include blocking access to a US based account where the Iraqi government keeps the oil revenues that feed 90 percent of its budget. This latest threat by Trump follows the Iraqi parliament's recent vote to oust the 5,200 US troops stationed in their country. This vote
was likely motivated by the US drone strike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani without prior consultation with the Iraqi authorities.
If Trump carries out his threat, against a nation whom the US calls an ally, it would only increase the misery of a country which has already lost a million people to the American invasion. Further contradicting the official US propaganda that it respects every nation’s right to freedom and democracy.
