A collection of charming architectural paintings by G N Kazi opened on Monday at Nomad, a gallery where he has been exhibiting his art quite often over the past few years.
Titled 'A Heritage Preserved,' the artist has chosen architecture as his point of interest to show its complexities as well as simplicity side by side to compliment and highlight the other.
Kazi chooses minimum colours and work in their tones, so that the attention of the viewer does not divert from the subject. Moreover, he prefers using earthen tones and the various shades of the night sky as a reflection and depiction of his soil.
There are no boundaries as Kazi's subjects move from forts to palaces and 'havelis'. The architecture is inspired by the traditional Mughal period and shrines of saints and 'sufis'. Collector's pieces, his paintings are serene and aesthetically pleasing, harmonious and tranquil. They are quite a treat for the eyes and soul!
