LAHORE: The 14th International Textile Asia Exhibition, organised by the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), booked orders worth $150 million on the first day, while deals of more than $300 million were made during the three-day mega textile fair.
A statement issued Monday said that the PRGMEA and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan have also signed an MoU to jointly conduct this mega textile event for the next five consecutive years in Lahore.
“After the amazing response and winning huge success, the PRGMEA and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan have decided to hold the International Textile Asia Exhibition every year in August at the Expo Centre, Lahore for at least the next five years,” PRGMEA Central Chairman Ijaz Khokhar announced at the concluding ceremony of the exhibition.
He said that around 55,000 people visited the exhibition during the first two days, while more than 100,000 visitors registered their presence in the textile fair during the three days.
PRGMEA central chairman said that the machinery and equipments displayed at the exhibition were of immense utility to manufacturers producing value-added products for increasing the export volumes.
He hoped that local businessmen would benefit from this technology by adding value to their products. He said that the textile Asia Expo also featured businessmen to businessmen (B2B) meetings, a lot of important industry-related presentations, and seminars on the textile sector.
Khokhar announced that this year’s show was dominated by mainly Chinese companies, but next year “we would invite companies from Germany as well as from the whole of Europe to showcase their brands in this exhibition”.
